ABOUT US

WHO ARE WE

We are Henriette, Alex and Daan, three students from the MSc Metropolitan Analysis Design Engineering (MADE) program of TU Delft and Wageningen University, located in the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions. From September until December 2021, we have researched how planting sites can successfully be located for the Meer Bomen Nu campaign to contribute to climate adaptation in cities and developed a new method, Waar Bomen Nu. Our backgrounds lie in Environmental Geography, Urban Planning and Architecture. Because of these different backgrounds, we could address this project in a multidisciplinary way.

URBAN LIVING LAB

Living Labs have become increasingly popular in the context of cities, but there is no clear definition of an Urban Living Lab established yet. The definition we follow was coined by Kris Steen and Ellen van Beuren and contains several key elements. The first element relates to the goal; new products should be developed that relate to existing or new problems. The second element are activities such as co-creation, -innovation and -validation of the products that are being created in the Living Lab. Participant involvement is the third element; who get an active role in the development process. Lastly, the final element is that all activities fundamentally take place in a real-life, real-world context.
