The practicalities of the Matching Process

01

The student-host matching process begins when the two interested parties sign up to the platform. Both sign up forms include the necessary questions for us to make an informed decision for the right student-host match.

03

Awareness

A host would be introduced to the Housing Platform through Awareness Campaigns organised on the Marineterrein between January and August, as part of the usual community-focused activities organised on the terrein.

The host can sign up at any time of the year. This would allow the Housing Platform to have a big enough pool of hosts before the students start expressing their needs for temporary housing solutions.

05

Match

Once the match is made, the Housing Platform will send the necessary information to students and hosts within 24h to let them know that the match has been accomplished.

07

Visit

A visit or call will give the student and host to meet each other and check the facilities of the temporary home.

09

Contract

The interested parties sign a contract (the nature of it is still to define)

11

Peace of mind

Finally, the student arrives at the temporary home and enjoys some peace of mind.

02

Enrollment

A student would be recommended to sign up to the platform before June. Sign ups will continue throughout August too.

MSc MADE students will be made aware of the housing situation in Amsterdam and the Housing Platform through awareness campaigns and/or the introductory sessions to the Masters and the course’ Student Advisors.

Students from other Marineterrein educational institutions would also receive the same information, at the same time, through their respective contact persons.

04

Data Analysis

Once the sign ups are in, the matching process happens through a thorough review of the information provided.

The forms will be run through a matching algorithm to evaluate the level of the match, and then each match will be individually reviewed manually to check the accuracy of the match.

06

Offer

The interested parties have the right to accept or decline the match.

08

Identity Documents

Both students and host must provide identity documents prior to receiving a contract to sign.

10

Cancellation

In the event of an emergency cancellation, students and hosts are required to give notice to the other party and to the Housing Platform, before 9 am (CET) of the day before the scheduled arrival day.
