Product

The final product is a set of recommendations for measuring social health on a neighborhood-level directed to healthy urban living (HUL)-dashboard developers. The recommendations first shortly explain the case and the process, and then extensively elaborate on the findings. In short, we focussed on how to measure social health in a neighborhood-specific context. These insights are interesting for the dashboard developers since subjective information like this is hard to measure in a meaningful way and tricky to include in a dashboard. From the community and co-design sessions, we decided to focus on three indicators, i.e. social engagement, activities, and meeting places. Next, we elaborate on specific indicators we assume to be relevant for measuring the three aspects of social health. The specific indicators were evaluated based on five characteristics, objectivity, availability for municipalities, availability in form of open-source data, availability on a neighborhood level, and national scale. Hopefully, you'll enjoy reading, and learn something about measuring social health!

This website presents our Living Lab project for the master's MADE. This is a joint degree of WUR and TU DELFT. For four months we have studied how to measure social health in a neighborhood-specific context, together with our partners.
